Quality Inn Ocean Front 54th Street

Main Post:

Howdy y’all, I’ll be staying at the quality inn ocean front on 54th. We got an ocean front room which I heard was the newer side of the hotel. Can anyone tell me about this hotel? I see a ton of mixed reviews about it and just want to put my worried mind at ease. Appreciate the feedback.

Top Comment: We have been staying here for over 30 years, maybe even 40. The style of hotel is somewhat dated, but everything is always clean and kept up. We love the oceanfront rooms here and the ability to walk down to the bar for a couple of margaritas to take back to our balcony and watch the waves. We also like that the hotel staff doesn't put up with a lot of crap. They have rules that allow everyone to enjoy their stay and enforce them if necessary to allow everyone to have a good time, while the hotel atmosphere is laid back overall.

(14k) Oceanfront dream wedding price breakdown!

Main Post:

Hey all! We tied the knot a few weeks ago and I wanted to share how we managed to get the understated oceanfront elegance feel for less than 14K. We traveled out of state so no DIY, all prices below are vendor quotes. My planner negotiated with the hotel.

Disclaimer: while our wedding cost under $14k all in, I can't claim that it was a budget wedding because we had a low guest count and splurged on quite a few items. Nevertheless, hopefully this post can be helpful to another bride to be that's wants a high end vibe without a high spend.

We had under 20 guests.

Venue: I was looking for an all-inclusive oceanfront venue in Miami Dade area. Found one in Ft Lauderdale that had really good food and everything included! They were also flexible with their quotes and overall very easy to work with.

Ceremony space, reception space, food, wait staff, beer and wine bar: ~$7,500 (with tips). We could have gone lower but we literally went with their most expensive dinner option because good food was a priority. The food was DELICIOUS!

Planner: Got a planner, day of coordinator and officiant all in one person. $1300. Saved so much stress the day of.

Florals and decor: ~$1000. We rented a white runner rug, a faux floral ceremony setup, and a reception table decor.

Photo: $750 for three hours. She did an amazing job!

Video: $500. Worth every cent since a lot of our family and friends live overseas.

HMUA for the bride: $400

Bridal attire: $700 all in (Rosie Etienne dress, accessories from Etsy)

Groom attire: $800 (Suitsupply)

Cake: $170 Macarons: $130

Violinist: $500 / two hours Invites: $30

TOTAL: $13,780

This amount does not include our travel to Florida and our wedding bands which we bought way earlier.

So, where did we save money?

  1. June-September is out of season for Florida weddings so we got better quotes from the venue.
  2. The wedding was on Sunday, which we only managed to pull off because most of the guests were local to Florida.
  3. No DJ; we used a Spotify playlist with a DJ feature, worked like a charm. Got the idea from Reddit
  4. Little ceremony decor: no isle markers, welcome signs, custom welcome mirrors etc
  5. We opted for beer and wine only bar. Most of our guests don't drink much and not including strong spirits saved us tons on money.
  6. No table wine service, which basically meant that guests had to come by the bartender table for a refill. The table was in the same private room and the guests literally had to walk maybe 5-8 feet so it was a no brainer and saved us a ton.

Attaching some of the pics from our ceremony and reception setup. Honestly, it was everything I could ask for.

Hopefully this helps another bride bring her vision to reality :)

Top Comment: Such a gorgeous wedding!

Oceanfront Hotel Recommendations in North Myrtle Beach

Main Post:

It will be a trip of me and my wife from May 12 to 18th, and would rather rot on the beach then hit up touristy spots. So I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for oceanfront hotels in North Myrtle Beach?

Top Comment: Not oceanfront, but Tilghman Beach and Golf Resort is a great place to stay in North Myrtle

Oceanfront Apartments

Main Post:

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had any experience with the following places or had any recommendations ;

Summer House Apartments - looks nice, but reviews mention roaches and thin walls, but you can complain about that in just about any apartment out here

Aqua on 25th - Same deal as above

Generally just looking for a nice 1 bedroom for around 1700-1800/month, preferably at the Oceanfront, also interested in downtown Norfolk/Ghent area. I currently live out in Red Mill and it's nice but just too quiet and too far from anything out here.

Thanks!

Top Comment: Check out beachplaceapartmentsvb.com Friendly people, low key and clean (as far as apartments go) and cheaper than I expected. Haven’t lived in the ones you mentioned above but aqua had a lady with signs protesting on the sidewalk because of her experience. I saw her for weeks out there and from what I can tell, she had a solid complaint. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/vb-tenants-voice-concerns-over-black-mold-conduct-environmental-testing/amp/ https://www.stopbreeden.com/

Oceanfront restaurant owners question.

Main Post: Oceanfront restaurant owners question.

Top Comment: Nothing too special - they are connected to Fishtails, Ocean's Ole, and Ocean's 14 at the Oceanfront. Okay tourist spots that fit the bill, but nothing a "local" would necessarily write home about.
